      Best Buy Sales Associate Interview

      Oct 19, 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Best Buy

      Interview

First you must apply online by completing a rather lengthy application and hope that it was worth your time. Soon after you may receive a phone call regarding your application and whether you are interested in scheduling an interview. There are usually two interviews (in my experience). Remember to dress like you want the job, and that means business casual, not just casual. The first interview is with the manager of the department you will be working for (in this case the mobile manager). Be prepared to answer some basic questions such as "what makes you the right candidate for this job?" If the department manager thinks you're the right candidate for the job you will be scheduled for a second interview with the store manager. It has been said that not every employee is asked to do two interviews so don't be surprised if this happens to you as it may simply mean that you're obviously good enough or the store needs to hire someone quickly. The second interview with the store manager is usually a repeat of the same questions asked in the first interview, but with a few new questions sprinkled in there. If my experience is anything to go by just be prepared to prove you can sell, or your really willing to try, because it's all business at Best Buy. This is also the perfect time for you to ask some questions especially if you want to know where you'll stand if something falls out of place down the line during your employment. If the store manager feels confident you're the right candidate for the job you will either be offered a job on the spot or told that you will receive a phone call at a later stage. If you're offered a job you will be required to negotiate your pay, and the job offer will be contingent on a background check and passing a urine test to discount the possibility of criminal offences or drug use respectively - the latter MUST be completed within a few days after you have been hired or your job offer may no longer be available. You should receive a phone call a few days after completing the drug test to inform you of the results (which I'm sure you'll already know) and you will given the opportunity to schedule a day to attend an orientation meeting, which usually involves at least one other new employee. The meeting will last a few hours and involves watching videos about store policies, learning about the store discount and its rules, navigating the store, and deciding your first week hours. Remember to bring photo identification, which you may or may not be informed about prior to the meeting.

      Interview

Waited for about ten minutes and then had a short interview. They asked basic questions about how I would deal with customers and my knowledge on technology. Overall I would say that it was a pretty fair and ordinary interview.

They called me in for two interviews. One with a supervisor then the final with the store’s general manager. If the general manger approves of you, then they offer you the job in the spot.

      Interview

There is always two interviews you will go in for your first one and if you do well they will push you to the GM interview they will ask questions about your personal experiences at other jobs or in your life that you have overcame and questions about how you handled a difficult situation with someone or a task and was able to help the customer or overcome the task to complete it don't expect to be in the interview long and always have a good answer nothing short or pause for a long time thinking of an answer. If hired there will be about 2 weeks of learning about technology and everything new you will not be thrown on the sales floor by yourself until they know you are comfortable with selling products. Good luck!!
