After you pass the assessment you will receive a phone interview. Question 1
Name a time you dealt with an unruly customer and how did it turn out?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Best Buy (Rockford, IL) in Nov 2019
Interview
The interview process was unprofessional in my opinion. I've interviewed twice for Best Buy at two different locations. First time I turned down the second interview, second time I didn't make it past the first interview. It starts with a phone interview with the hiring manager's assistant (not actual title, but pretty much what they are).
I don't know if it's Best Buy's thing to do surprise phone interviews, but the first time I interviewed with Best Buy they called me about a week after I applied. When I answered, I assumed he was going to ask what time would be best for an interview, but no, he started the phone interview right then and there while I was in the process of heading out the door. I asked if we could continue this later at a better time, and he said no, if we don't do it now I will not be under consideration anymore. I turned down the second interview.
Second time I interviewed for Best Buy a couple years later at a different location, something similar happened. Best Buy called me and left a voicemail as I was working at my current job. The voicemail said she would call me back in 3 days to do the phone interview. Not giving me a time or anything. I tried calling back but she didn't answer. Then 2 days later, not 3 days, she calls me again unexpectedly while I'm at work and starts the phone interview. Not only was I annoyed but I was distracted with my answers as I was doing a phone interview next to my coworkers which is awkward. I wasn't offered a 2nd interview this time, but after these experiences I don't think I will consider Best Buy for a career anymore. If the hiring process is this unprofessional and inconsiderate, imagine how working under managers like this would be.
