I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Box
Interview
By far the best interview process of ANY company I worked with this year.
Timeline:
Applied.
1 week later Recruiter screen.
Same week, 1st coding int.
1 week later onsites split 3 and 2 over 2 days: Coding, Culture/Behavioral, Coding, Project Presentation, 2-hour self-coding.
Recruiter called next day with positive interview results and got me setup for team matching that occurred that same week and following week. Finished all team matching interviews (6).
Entire process: 5 weeks after my first recruiter contact. This could have been even more compressed if I wouldn't have been stalling a bit to align with other companies in progress.
Coding all fell into the medium LC range. Self-coding was easier than the others, but probably because it hit a subject that I was familiar with from past jobs.
Culture interview is critical at Box, don't ignore prep.
People in the interviews are pretty easy to talk with, gave me time at end to ask about working at Box. Those that weren't back to back gave me extra time to discuss being a SWE at Box in their area.
Going into the pooled hiring meant I had to get assigned to a team prior to getting the offer details. Those interviews are reverse where you get to choose from a list of teams the recruiter presents to you, and you meet each over the course of a week. The mgr/SWE gives a brief sales pitch and you get to ask what you want to know. You are allowed to request followups as well, which I did in some cases where I had met with a mgr (just to get a SWE perspective). Then you rank your choices. Then if the opening still exists and feeling is mutual, you get your top ranked choice.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Sorry, I cannot provide any since I agreed to an NDA. Just do your medium LCing and know your standard behavioral/past experiences applicability to the company's values. Note that interviews here were very non-intimidating, so prepare, but relax.
Straightforward. They're looking for your approach towards a problem and how efficient your solution is, they don't care about any coding syntax hiccups.
There were multiple questions (not all LC)
- Unix Commands
- Identify Synchronization Issue in the given code
- Find K Most Frequent words across all files in a given dir path
- Flip Kth Bit
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Box in Feb 2026
Interview
Short screening with HR. Followed by dropdown implementation fix for frontend. Then to implement todo list via React. Last full-stack to implement Cart logic with pseudocode. Interviews around one hour long. And interviewers are pretty chill and ready to help you in the process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Write a cart logic specification document intended for a backend development team to use as an implementation guide.
At first I applied via job board, then recruiter screening, one week leater System design interview and Coding interview. I get declined at this step with quiet big feedback. All take around 3 weeks. And meeting in summarize was 4 hours.
