I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at City Year (Philadelphia, PA) in May 2013
Interview
The process was relatively quick, but I think that depends on when you submit your application. After submitting, you will schedule a phone interview. For me that lasted 30 minutes. It was relatively simple and was mostly a process of making sure that you understood what city year was. Afterward, if you were selected to move on, I went to a in person interview though I believe for others, they did web-interviews. That was also pretty typical. They focused more on you giving examples of team work, conflicts, past experience with education, dealing with more experienced or less experienced co-workers, etc.

Question 1
Why do you want to join city year? What is city year
Very simple. Quick virtual interview and pretty simple questions. Research their values and what not and you should be good to go. As far as I remember it was a single interview and decision is relatively soon after that.
Really friendly and welcoming. Try to make it as comfortable as possible and share about the work they do. They want to ensure applicants are making the right decisions and that they assess the values.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at City Year
Interview
Done over zoom and not an overly long process interviews are usually conducted by the IM for a school in the city you are applying for but if you have a pulse you should be fine
