Insurance adjuster decided to change my career and follow my calling into pursuing a doctorate in medicine (Yes I understand I took a huge pay-cut but money isn't everything and I have no debt..) As a Medical student looking to get my foot through the door in the medical field, Applied to Davita since no experience needed and its entry level. Took less than 24hrs to get a response to take an assessment. Once completed, was invited a week later for a phone interview. Spoke with a lady named Andrea for 5 min regarding the job, she asked me a couple of STAR related questions, by the answers I provided, she invited me to a 2nd interview. 4 days later....Second interview consisted of 2 ladies asking STAR related questions, then they tell you about the job, - Passed that
Invited to a job shadow 1 week later. Shadow is 4hrs long (mine was 8am -12 noon) basically you're watching the PCT's set up the dialysis machines and checking vitals for patients. Although I was supposed to watch, I was actually able to assist patients, :). The nurse gave me a disposable lab coat, and a face shield....I was able to watch the PCT's cannulate the patients and also engage in convo. The patients were very sweet After you shadow, you meet with the manager she discusses pay (For those curious, they started me at $12 and after training they bump it to $13 after you earn your CCHT certification, then after a year another $1 raise....the manager asks "ARE YOU GOING TO BE FINE WITH IT BEFORE ACCEPTING" (like i said, im only doing it for the experience so it wasn't a problem)
2 days later received an offer letter of employment, had to submit background check and drug test (urine sample).....I start 08/05
