I applied online. I interviewed at DataCamp in Jun 2023

Interview

Despite a year of experience doing exactly all the things listed on the job description and requirements as a deal desk associate, this interviewer based out of the UK decided to cancel the interview AFTER he already rescheduled it once last minute. His reasoning was that they wanted someone in NYC. When I replied saying that I would be happy to relocate from Boston (NY and MA are literally neighboring states) he never replied.

Interview Questions
  • Nothing. I didn't even get an opportunity to show them that I had all the experience and skills they could ask for out of an intern and more.

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at DataCamp

Interview

Unfortunately not a great interview. The initial call with the recruiter was a metrics grilling session - something I usually encounter with the second round. There was no talk about the company or why it’s a great place to work. I came prepared with metrics of course, but the recruiter seemed to think I wasn’t understanding their questions correctly. He would pretty quickly respond to my answer with a “right, but what I’m asking is”. I could tell in the first 5 minutes that I was apparently wasting his time. No behavioral questions - just wanted numbers.

Interview Questions
  • Asked about renewal and expansion rates, churn rates, size of portfolio. Atypical for a recruiter conversation.

Online. Asked basic questions like motivation and experience instructing content, creating syllabus. Interview was a bit distracting because there was a cat moving around in the background. The interviewee was nice and the overall process was smooth.

Interview Questions
  • Tell me about yourself, how did you get interested in this position? Tell me about the time you created a syllabus.

Difficult Interview
Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DataCamp (London, England)

Interview

First I was asked to fill in a google form asking why I was interested in DataCamp and then general questions about availability etc. I then had to complete 2 of 4 DataCamp assessment tests (Python, Data Science using Python, Data Science using R, R). After completing the assessments successfully, I was invited for an online interview. The interview questions were generic questions and another "coding test" where you are given commands in Python or R and asked to provide the latest syntax for uncommon commands in the data science libraries. The interview was very rushed and like how others have stated here, they seemed more interested in their own company brand rather than actually evaluating the overall skills and experience of candidates.

Interview Questions
  • Why do you want to work at DataCamp? Why do you want to do an internship at DataCamp? What is your favourite / least favourite course on DataCamp and why? How do you approach work?

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DataCamp (Paris) in Nov 2022

Interview

I got a referral and went through the whole process in 2 weeks: 1. Call with HR 2. Call with hiring manager 3. Case study and presentation 4. Call with CEO At each step I had a call with HR to debrief. I was told "awesome, they really like you". After the final step, they told me "we will send the offer and contract very soon". Then I was ghosted for a few days and got rejected without much details. Apparently they were still interviewing other candidates after they told me "yes" over the phone. Total lack of respect and transparency, worst I had in over 10 years.

Interview Questions
  • How do you work in a fast-paced environement, how do you work with engineers, etc. What is your process, how do you approach this kind of issue, etc.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DataCamp (London, England) in Oct 2022

Interview

Received an email from a recruiter requesting the completion of a Google Form. The form had questions like "Why do you want to work for DataCamp?..." and availability etc. The last page contained 4 assessments (Python programming /Data Science using Python/Data Science using R/R programming) and was asked to complete only 2 of the assessments. Following the successful completion of the assessments, I was invited for a remote interview. The interview consisted of generic questions and questions about reasons for applying for the internship and what you hope to gain from it, how you approach work etc. There was another code test which involved identifying whether the uncommon data science commands had the latest syntax. The interview felt very rushed and as others have stated, it felt as if the recruitment was more about DataCamp and its brand/marketing than any attempt to actually understand and evaluate the candidate's skills and experience.

Interview

At the DataCamp's request, I provided my available times to meet. They didn't reply for two weeks, when they, again, asked for my availability. We agreed on a day/time, but his meeting invite was for the wrong day/time. I asked about it, but never received a reply and then no one showed up to the meeting or replied to my follow-up. So, the process is totally disorganized.
