Some of the team are nice.
Cons
Below market pay, terrible managers who micromanage you and its a poisonous, political environment. The leadership don't know what they are doing and treat the business like their personal hobby.

Pros
Travel. Some good colleagues. Remote work is flexible
Cons
Diversity - The executive team is made up of mostly men, all white. Leaders reporting into them are also mostly white men. Diversity is not a priority at Datacamp. No one talks about this. HR - Poor HR setup. Unprofessional and unstructured. HR leaders come and go quietly, no transparency. HR policies are few and far between. They call themselves the “people” team but people is not a company priority. Leadership - The executive leaders only care about squeezing as much as possible with the least amount of people possible. No care for mental health, or employee development and growth. Vibe is detached, cold, robotic. There’s no clear long term vision only a myopic short term view. Everything is important all at once. Many in the company have no faith in the leadership team. Major nepotism. Leaders hire their buddies and make sure to place them in favorable positions. Favoritism runs amok in this company. Turnover - People are quietly let go regularly with no explanation or transparency. You don’t know if you’re the next person on the chopping block at any point no matter how you’re performing.

Growing fast, lots of opportunities and treating employees well!
Mar 26, 2018 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Growing scale-up, plenty of good reasons to join if you like this kind of environment: fast growth, lots of opportunity to take on responsibility, new colleagues joining every week - Compensation: the company pays well, and from what I hear across all positions. For most roles part-time working from home is a possibility and there is a lot of flexibility with regards to where and when you work - Co-workers: the bar for recruiting is high, both on fit as skill, creating a group of very interesting co-workers with different backgrounds. Bi-annual retreats, happy hours, etc... make sure there is plenty of time to got to know each other - Vision of the company: democratizing data science education and making it accessible for all to prepare people better for the jobmarket and reduce the skillshortage felt in every company is enough motivation in itself
Cons
- Little structure and support: If you are a looking for set careerpaths, support functions that can help you at every moment, clearly outlined responsabilities, etc... DataCamp is not yet the place for you - No time to stand-still: workload is high and a lot of things need to get done - International company: offices both in the US and NY make collaboration some times a challenge across timezones

get the lay of the land before jumping in

Interesting people, solid product, nicely stocked kitchen
Cons
Poorly managed from top down, first time people-managers aren't trained or properly managed themselves, overworked and undervalued employees, inconsistent communication from leadership, lack of communication in general. Clear and obvious focus on "growth" rather than retaining current employees.

Pros
Openness applies across all parts of the organization. From the communication style with peers, to access to leadership, to the ability to solve challenges in whatever way you see fit. While it seems to be obvious being a Data Science company that all decisions are data driven, most companies say that, but beneath the surface decisions are lead by executives in conference rooms, that's not the case here. Similar to the NUMMI approach, decisions are data driven and in the hands of those closest to the challenge. It's a breath of fresh air.
Cons
It really depends on what's important to you. A con would be that there aren't mature organizational processes in place - but I see that as a pro. DataCamp seems to have avoided many of the growing pains in the startup landscape, but I'm sure that doesn't make it immune to them.
