I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Electric AI (New York, NY) in Jan 2021
Interview
The interview process was 2 phone screens and then a "virtual" onsite for about 4/5 hours. Standard interviews, some system design, programming, fit, and a "critical thinking" interview which I guess is less standard. The team was very responsive the whole time, and the whole process took a little over two weeks.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I don't want to spoil the exact questions, they were fairly typical and sensible questions.
System: Think through the solution for a real problem they were facing and how to implement it
Programming: Easy to medium level leetcode-style questions
The process was in line with most tech interviews. What stood out was how responsive the team was - we moved quickly and I was always aware of what the next steps were.
I felt everyone was extremely aligned with company mission. Definitely was a strong sense of purpose across the board.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Electric AI (New York, NY) in Feb 2020
Interview
I met for coffee informally with the VP of Engineering. He informed me about the companies goals and trajectory and what they were looking for in an Engineering manager. He genuinely cared about my career goals and helped outline what Electric could do to get me to those goals. I was super excited about the opportunity to join the engineering team at electric. After our informal coffee, I was invited to the office to meet with the directors of engineering as well as folks from the Product and Ops team. Everyone was super welcoming and kind. Kelly, the hiring manager showed me around the office and introduced me to some members of the team. Everyone I met with was super inviting and willing to chat.
