Interview
Started with an e-mail requesting basic information from the HR Recruiter, then we had an HR screening interview with basic questions about my experience and my last job (nothing technical). Next she set up a phone interview with a technical manager, this interview was all technical. He wanted to know how to speed up database queries, what solution you would choose for a friend's wedding website if you had to build one, a couple of java questions (difference between abstract and interface, about JUnit mock objects -- when to use one), uhm... how to troubleshoot a co-worker's machine if the page was returning very slowly. Unfortunately it never got to a personable interview, where they would learn why I'm different from other devs and why they'd want to hire me specifically... too bad. Also to note, I had applied to a Software Engineer in Test position and the recruiter recommended this one instead. Every other job I apply to at Expedia now, whether I feel fully qualified or not, I get turned down for before the interview stage. The interview went well so I'm not sure what the issue is, but... well, ace the interview the first time around if you can!
