    Interview

I applied online, and then they called me in for a brief interview. They asked a lot of behavioral questions to assess my ability to work with the public. It was very easy and laid back. I did not have any prior work experience at the time, so they did not ask to describe past situations.

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took a week. I interviewed at Food City (Phoenix, AZ) in October 2016.

    Interview

The main thing I thought you should know is that there is a drug test. They swab your mouth. Also should you be hired they do have (unpaid) training before you start working there. But it's not too bad. This store I think is only local but none the less they seem to have no teal policies about the training. It has been paid and sometimes it is not.

    Interview Questions

    • If I had any prior experience with them or Basha's (since they are affiliates).   1 Answer

I went in and the interview was more like a conversation than an interview and it was very easy. He was very nice and welcoming. I got a job offer on the spot. We negotiated pay and he told me the job description. We went into the next room to get a cotton swab drug test where you put it in your mouth and fill it with saliva.

I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Food City (Gate City, VA) in January 2016.

    Interview

The interview process went awesome. I applied online and within 4 day the HR women call to set up the interview. I had 2 interviews. The first one was with HR and Bakery Manager. And the second one was with the store manager and to take my drug test. Which was a mouth swab. You will have to but the cotton ball in your mouth and keep it in for at least 5 minutes. The whole process took about 6 days. That was 2 interview and then waiting on the drug/background check to come back.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Food City (Hixson, TN) in December 2014.

    Interview

I was greeted at the at the service desk by the hiring manager before being brought to a sit down area off to the side. My interviewer asked how I had been that day before entering standard fare questions, such as previous work experience and current education levels. Very up front with pay levels and stressed the importance of keeping my availability up to date. Asked how many hours I would like to average at start. Wanted to know if I would like the option of progressing or cross training down the line. Thanked me for my time and gave me details on my drug testing day.

    • Have you had previous retail experience?   1 Answer
    • If the opportunity presents itself for promotion or additional training, would you be interested?   1 Answer

    Negotiation

We discussed wages and hour expectations, though major negotiation was not present. My advice is to be honest and start high, though not obscenely high. It gives room to haggle and shows you are at least knowledgeable of the job and its expectations.

    Stock Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Food City (Piney Flats, TN) in October 2014.

    Interview

I was called in and told to come to the store for the interview. I had to go to the customer service desk to have somebody figure out who was supposed to be interviewing me and nobody knew immediately. It was eventually figured out and the review was underway, but the interviewer was clearly quite preoccupied with something else before I came in. I was then taken to a nearly empty room, one that I think is supposed to be used as a conference room, and told to wait a few minutes. Two people took me into a manager's office and the review was started. I answered some questions and was told that I would be contacted for further interviewing at least a week from the day of my first interview.

    Interview Questions

    • Can you work with people of a variety of ages?
      Physical ability?
Have you ever had to solve a problem working with others?
