I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at GEICO (Tucson, AZ) in Jun 2013
Interview
I had met the recruiter on campus at university and after submitting my application she contacted me for a standard phone interview. After, that interview a couple of days later I was called to come in and complete some testing. I took a typing test as well as a simple multi-tasking test and passed with ease.
Then I had an in-person interview with the recruiter, after which I was given a hands on claim adjusting test where I was given a phone and claim files and had to answer questions from "callers" (it was the recruiter) about the claims. After this my scoring was done and I had passed everything. I was seated with a current claims adjuster for an hour while I spoke with them and listened in on some calls.
A couple of days later I met with the manager of the department for an interview. The morning after that I received a call and was offered the job.

Interview
Fairly Easy, they will ask you situational questions that describe your judgement and will allow, them to understand your rationale in very difficult situations. They describe the role of the position and how you will deal with customers on a daily

Question 1
Tell me about a time that you faced a difficult situation and how did you deal with it?
I aced the computer-based test. It was stuff that I knew from my years in retail. During the first interview, I was told that they could not find a manager for the second interview and excitedly told me if I did not hear from them to call them Friday of that week. That day I was sent a denial in an email and was frankly disappointed that they got my hopes up for a second interview.

Interview
Very long interview process. After applying you are invited to do a personality test and run a simulation program to test multitasking. You are then scheduled to do a phone interview that lasts about an hour mostly focusing on what you would do in hypothetical situations and previous work experience. After this, you are scheduled for a role-play interview online which can be very tricky and definitely the hardest part of the interview process, try to read the documents provided thoroughly and take notes. After that you do a video interview with a hiring manager answering further questions. I took me about 2 weeks but you can theoretically schedule everything in the same day.
