I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Reston, VA)
Interview
Initial phases of recruitment were pleasant, but the interview process itself seemed to be a bit more amateur than one would expect from Google. Some interviewers were unsure of what role I had applied for, asking technical depth questions that did not seem to really align with the role I was applying for; rather, some of the questions were more specific to the interviewer's own comfort level. After ultimately passing through the interviews, I then made it to a team match phase. Until that point, I had not realized I was not already matched with a team. During the team match, I was interviewed by a possible peer who had only been on the team for a couple of months and who wasn't aware of what job I was applying for. After all of the time and effort put in (by both sides), the only feedback I received was, "The team has decided to go in another direction. Please feel free to apply to other positions." (slight bit of paraphrasing). After that decision was made, I was no longer a priority for the recruiter. You would think that after having passed the initial interviews and loop that I could have been considered for other positions. If my interview performance was not stellar enough for that, then just say so...why waste my time and your time? While I understand that Google has a long line of talented people eager to get in, the overall process soured me on Google as a whole. After 8 weeks of back and forth, it seems that the entire effort was a waste.
Good interviewers that ask a lot of questions to gauge your domain knowledge. Do not feel daunted because they just need to know your thought process. Speak more and out loud. Think out loud.
Two process interview. was not clear. first interview with recruiter which thought it will go well. second with Hiring manager which was not clear what was asked or needed. Not sure why went through this.

I applied online. I interviewed at Google (Amsterdam) in May 2026
Interview
had first interview with recruiter - she was nice. thought that I was the right person for the job. Second interview with manager from the US. was less good. felt like the main reason for the interview was to hire a similar person to the person who was interviewing. we talked at night (for me) and was 30 min over the interview allocated time, but the morning after I got a rejection call.
