      GMAT Instructor Interview

      Aug 6, 2013
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kaplan

      Interview

They asked me to audition less than 24 hours after I applied. They asked me to interview less than 24 hours after I sent in my audition. Then they didn't get back to me about the interview for over 2 weeks. After I finally had the first interview they asked me to do the second interview and they would send me the details. They never did and I contacted my only contact there several times but never heard back again. Oh well.

      GMAT Instructor Interview

      Feb 27, 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Boston, MA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Kaplan (Boston, MA) in Dec 2012

      Interview

Applied through their website - took about 20 min. Applicants for the Instructor position have to have had at least a 90 percentile score on the test they plan on teaching. Received an email about a few days later asking me for an interview. The interview lasted about 45 minutes and covered topics like - Why Kaplan, have you taught before, what would you do if some students were not getting the material, etc. A lot of the interviews and interaction takes place over Skype. Employment offer is tentative and only finalized after the successful completion of their training program. That program consists of "teachback" sessions - anywhere between 5 and 8 of them, for which candidates are reimbursed. Prep for the sessions is reimbursed, however, at a much lower rate - about $8/hr. Teachback sessions are compensated at the actual rate for teaching - in my case $30/hour. There are also 2 observation sessions that must be completed before one starts work.
