My situation was a little unique as I applied for brandnew store opening soon. I applied on kohlscareers.com under the 'New store openings' jobs available. They general give you the option of what position you want to apply for then you have to answer a few basic questions (multiple choice) on the website. Common sense questions like what would you do if you found out a co-worker was stealing, how would you approach a customer that needed help, etc. I think they use these as a way to weed out people right away. Then they give you dates and times of the job fair you can self-schedule for your interview. They held the job fair at a hotel near by in conference room. When I got there I checked in with one of the managers and they had me fill out a packet before my interview time. The packet contained a basic application, a couple of pages for references and past work history and some other papers for work tax credit things. We had to have it checked over by one of the couple manangers there to make sure we filled everything out. Then I was called with my group for the group interview. They took 9 of us into another room for the interview. A manager asked the questions while an assistant managert took notes of our answers. They asked us about 4 questions and we went around the room and took turns giving our answers. The questions were 1. What did/didnt like about your last job and what position are you applying for and your availability? 2. How do you feel about soliciting Kohl's credit cards? 3. What would you do if a customer had a question that you didnt know the answer to? 4. How many days do you think is acceptable to miss work and how would you handle calling out of work if you had to? They said it may take a week or two for them to start calling people back. My interview was on a Thursday and they called me back that next Monday to offer me a position.
