Applied to their general job portal for the position, got a call back three weeks later for a first-round phone screen. The recruiter asked her stock questions, all behavioral and very focused on team and project based work. Make sure to have reasons why you like LinkedIn, and the business leadership program specifically. The interview was pretty standard and went well and then the recruiter left 15 minutes for questions at the end of the interview where I asked all of the questions I had.
Issues arose when I asked the recruiter about her career trajectory to LinkedIn, a common question that I ask every interviewer on every interview, and she got very defensive and proceeded to tell me that prior to her job at LinkedIn she did not have any work experience and got the job from a family member who worked there. Shocked, I tried to keep asking questions that wouldn't offend her, but it was too late. From there, any questions I asked were quickly answered and she rushed off the phone, probably to go recruit more of her family members to the company.
Overall, the interview was a positive experience, and I think another recruiter would never have reacted that way. I wish LinkedIn would hold their employees to the same standard they hold their applicants to. My advice on your LinkedIn BLP interview? Make sure you don't have too much work experience so that you don't offend a recruiter who potentially has less than you.
