I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at MarketStar in Apr 2020
Interview
I applied online and 2 days afterwards I received an SMS by the recruiter asking me if I was still interested on the position. I replied, and we scheduled a couple of minutes to speak about it. A follow-up interview was scheduled with the hiring manager. This interview was informal and informative as far as the position goes, what it entails and the company. The hiring manager was great in terms of getting to know me and my current career goals. On the following day, the recruiter called and an offer was made. Recruiter promised me an e-mail with the benefit information for the company, but this was never received to this day. The offer was below the salary range quoted by the recruiter on the initial phone call and taking that into account and the fact that the salary was below the national average for the position, I made a counter offer. On the following business day, the initial offer was increased but still below what was initially discussed and below my requirement. I naturally declined it. I felt that this was unprofessional and revealing of the kind of employer I would be getting.
How can you make an employment decision if when you ask for the company's employee benefit information, and you are promised an e-mail with it, this is ignored? I inquired what was the criteria that triggered the bonus component of the salary, I did not receive an answer; recruiter seemed to want to communicate with me only via SMS and I felt put on the spot to make a decision after the counter offer. This would involve a relocation and I felt like I was not able to make a fully informed decision due to the lack of information previously requested. Still, the main interview with the hiring manager was professional.
Based on my experience, I do not recommend MarketStar as a future employer.
