      I interviewed at Nielsen

      Interview

Began with a phone call from the recruiter. Questions that were asked: "Why Nielsen?", "Where do you see yourself in 10 years?", "Why do you think you'd be a good fit?". After that, I had another phone call interview with a Nielsen associate who asked me questions about the SDLC lifecycle. Both conversations went very smoothly. About 4 days before the interview, I received a case study and some background information on what Nielsen does to review for the final interview. The case study was very technical with a lot of jargon. The background information was very easy to understand. I was flown out to Chicago for the final round with an expense sheet for food and transportation. The hotel is payed for. Unfortunately, it seemed very unorganized. I was not provided the correct flight information upon arrival the airport. Once in Chicago, I was told that the hotel had not been paid for and I had to contact my recruiter to get it figured out adding stress to my night when I had my interview in the morning. I was reimbursed immediately by the hotel and they apologized. The next morning, I got a tour of the building and began my first interview shortly after the tour. The first interview was the case study and it was given by two associates. It was very difficult for me because I wasn't told that I could use the case study during the interview, so I was pulling most of it from memory until they told me at the END OF THE INTERVIEW that I could use it. They asked a lot of questions to judge analytical thinking. The second interview was behavioral interview and it was given by two associates who had already attended the program. It was very easy and they were very friendly. After the interview process, I was told to bring my luggage to lunch with me because I would be leaving afterwards. I felt that this was very awkward to carry around with me. I met with three associates for lunch at a place of their choosing. They asked me a couple more questions about what I wanted out of the program and gave some advice; overall a nice experience - nothing too complex. Overall, the process was very stressful because it seemed a bit unorganized, but everyone at the company is very nice. If the travel had gone more smoothly, I would have rated this as a positive experience as opposed to no opinion. It wasn't good, but it wasn't bad. You must succeed on both the case study and the behavioral questions. I only did well on the behavioral and I did not get chosen.
