I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at OYO (Tokyo) in Feb 2021
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter about an opening in Oyo Japan. There were multiple steps for the interview plus a technical exercise. The process was long and very disorganised. The first interview was rescheduled a few times and confirmation for the interview came very last minute. It was a day before the interview that I got the confirmation which barely gave me time to prepare. There was an introduction of the job and the company from the interviewer and then they started asking questions from me. I did not find the questions most appropriate and it felt like that we are going on circles trying to talk about a certain topic (this is my biased opinion, the topic may have been important for them). Even though I think it is common practice to give the candidate some time to ask questions, the interviewers did not allocate any time for me to ask questions. There was no way for me to know more about the company, team, and the job and form an impression even though I had many questions in mind.
After the first interview, Oyo invited me to work on technical exercise but I decided not to move forward with them.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Have you made any models in your previous experience?
What would you do differently if you had to start the project again?
Would you consider a different modeling process besides regression?
Technical exercise:
Dynamic pricing for hotel rooms
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at OYO
Interview
Data Structures, ML optimization, Projects Where questions were asked based on arrays and discussed about projects and type of algorithms used for Machine Learning? Most of the discussion was about my projects, where l built projects based on Video Matrix Factorization.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at OYO (Bengaluru) in Feb 2022
Interview
Started out good but ended as a very bad experience (WASTE OF TIME). I had 5 rounds with 1 being HR screening round and 4 technical rounds after which I was rejected without any feedback. All of them were pretty good and the interviewer was happy at my answers. Upon asking for feedback multiple times, the HR just turned blind eye and never responded with the exact reason.
After 4 rounds, the HR did not even call to reject you. It was just via email without any specific reason.

Question 1
Round 1: Basic profile matching round and getting expectations from both sides
Round 2 and 3 were purely of data science and machine learning fundamentals. I enjoyed as they were more like a generic chat among data scientists.
Round 4 was system design/ engineering round where some fundamental questions were asked.
I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at OYO (New Delhi) in Jan 2022
Interview
The whole process consisted of 4 Rounds
1. Round 1 -> Test (Aptitude, SQL, ML, Python)
2. Round 2 -> Group Discussion
3. Round 3 -> ML Round 1 (Basics of ML, Resume, Stats)
4. Round 4 -> ML Round 2 (Bussiness Case Study in ML, Stats)
