    Software Engineer Interview

    Anonymous Interview Candidate
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Otter Products in January 2015.

    Interview

Applied online through the company website and two weeks later received a call from the HR. Initial phone screen, asked questions about my skills and qualifications pertaining to the job. At the end of the phone interview, she said she thought I was a good fit for the job and will forward my resume to the hiring manager the same day. The HR gave me a positive review and told me she will forward my resume to XXXX hiring manager.

Obviously when I got a positive response, I was expecting a call for the next round of interview. Then, I got a call informing, they have changed the position from Software Engineer to Associate Software Engineer with lower salary. I told her I still think it is a very good opportunity and am willing to go ahead with the interview process.

But a week later, I got a system generated rejection email. I inquired about that and she rudely said that they were looking for other candidates that closely met the requirements.I inquired about this toother colleagues of mine and they said Otterbox is known to treat its employees and prospective candidates this way.

I found the whole experience to be misleading and unplanned. How can they find other candidates when they did not even interview me?

    Internship Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Otter Products (Fort Collins, CO) in August 2017.

    Interview

The interview process was probably one of the longest I’ve ever done. I applied online at the end of August and got an email saying I passed the first round of resumes around mid September. They asked a bunch of questions about my previous experiences in work and school through email, and went back and front a few times before setting up a time for a phone interview. I was under the impression the interview process was going to go pretty fast because they were asking if I could start at the end of September.

The phone interviewer was with a manager I would be working with and it went on about 40 minutes. She asked more questions about my experience, personal questions etc and then a few hours later, I got another email saying I passed the phone interview and they wanted to bring me in next week for an interview. I met with four different people. An HR/volunteer rep, the manager I spoke to on the phone, and two more managers from a department I would work with from time to time. They all had different styles to their interviews. The first two was more getting to know me/reiterating what I said on the phone, the third was more technical, and the forth was more about learning how I worked in an office environment and what were some weaknesses that didn’t work well with me. Overall was a good experience.

Waited about a week or so later and got a call that a new guy just started and they thought it would be good for me to interview with him/meet with him. So I came the next week for another interview and that was good. Got along well and then waited until the end of the week and got a call offering me the internship.

By this point it was about mid October. I communicated only with an HR person. The only thing I had a problem with was when I was offered the internship, they misspoke what salary they were wanting to start me on and that was quite a confusing time when looking over the offer letter. Other than that, it was a pretty good experience. Very organized, timely response time and all felt very welcoming. My HR contact was great and also encouraged me throughout the whole process so that was nice.

    Interview

The process was straight forward. I applied online and it took 2 weeks or so to be scheduled for a phone interview through email. The first phone interview was with an HR representative. I then was called back very soon for another phone interview with an accounting manager. That same day I was called and offered an in-person interview. I met with the Otter Cares representative and had 3 separate interviews with members of the accounting team. I then had a final interview with the controller. Everyone was honest about the job responsibilities and very passionate about working for OtterBox.

I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Otter Products (Fort Collins, CO).

    Interview

You apply online and then they set up a phone interview. It probably took them 2-3 month to get back to me after originally applying to set up an interview. They first have you fill out a sheet of interview question and have you email it to them. Then they set up a phone interview. The phone interview was extremely long and took about an hour. Once they phone interview you it took about a week for them to let you know if you got a second in the office interview.
