      Advisor Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at RealSelf

      Interview

2 interviews total First interview was great and informative, but the second was just awkward because the person had very little personality over the phone. Mostly one-word answers and very little information was given about the position itself. It was like talking to a wall. I hung up no longer being interested in the position based on my conversation with the 2nd interviewer.

      Question 1

Why are you interested in working for RealSelf? How familiar are you with RealSelf?

Thank you for your feedback on our interview process. I'm happy that your first interview went well. I'm disappointed that you felt like the second interview left something to be desired. We seek to operate from the perspective that interviewing with RealSelf should feel like a 2-way street. You are interviewing us as much (if not more) than we are interviewing you! Walls are not our typical way of communicating. Sounds like we fell short in your case and we'll work to do better. I appreciate your consideration in joining the RealSelf team and for sharing feedback.

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at RealSelf (Seattle, WA) in Aug 2016

      Interview

I had my first interview with a recruiter which went well. Standard questions regarding my experience and how it related to the job I was interviewing for. The next week, I had an interview with the woman who would be my manager and from my perspective, we had a great conversation which made me pretty excited about the position. I heard back from the recruiter the following day who told me that “the feedback from X was very positive” and that they discussed me being a “great candidate” for a role they were opening in a few weeks and asked if I would be willing to wait. I immediately replied that I was very interested and would be fine with waiting. I followed up with the recruiter two weeks later asking if there was any update she could share. No response. I then followed up a week later politely asking if there any been any developments. No response. I emailed a week later. No response. Now, I understand that things can change, but the fact that I couldn’t even get a response saying they were no longer interested was pretty discouraging because she asked if I would be willing to wait while they “iron out details.” During those two weeks, I stopped looking for a job (was recently laid off) because I thought this was the one and I wasn’t interested in anything else. Totally my fault but I just feel like after two interviews that went well, along with the positive feedback, that I could at least get a reply saying something! The only thing I can think of was that my thank you note was too eager? I have no idea. Obviously it wasn’t meant to be. Their loss!
