I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Ross Stores in Sep 2016
Interview
I applied on September 25th. On Sept 26th I got a call by the store manager and was asked about my availability. After I said what it was, I was asked to attend an interview and did so on Sept 27th. I applied for a retail associate/cashier position but once we got into the interview, I was told that the only open positions were for seasonal backroom stock associates. That is not what I applied for and if there were no openings for a cashier position, I shouldn't have been called. I feel I should have been asked over the phone if I was interested in interviewing for an alternate position. Anyway, the interview went nice and there were no "tell me about a time" questions. I was told I had a job pending a background check but have since been ghosted by the manager. A week went by which was the time frame given to me for a background check to go through and I received no calls or emails. Upon trying to call the store a few times, I was not able to get in touch with the manager. He was either not there or busy. It has now been 3 weeks since the interview and I have received no further correspondence. I do not know what happened. I was told orientation would begin on OCT 16th but it's now OCT 14th, so I guess I wasn't hired after all despite being told I was. This was a truly awful experience and my time was wasted for 3 weeks which could have been used to apply to other jobs.

Question 1
Let's start by telling me a little about yourself.
The interview process at Ross Dress for Less consisted of meeting with a store manager to discuss my customer service experience, cash handling skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment. I was asked situational questions about handling customers, teamwork, and resolving problems. The process was straightforward and focused on my availability, work ethic, and ability to support store operations
Fast and easy! They mainly asked about my previous work experiences and my availability. They also asked what great customer service is like to you and why I would be a good fit to the company.
I was interviewed over the phone and than asked to come in person. So I could meet the team and talk to them. It wasn't too hard but it was kind of a waste as I didn't get a call back.
