      Customer Success Manager Interview

      May 16, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Salesforce (London, England) in Mar 2016

      Interview

Screening call. Face to face interview with the team leader. A couple of extra phone interviews which I requested to hear from people doing the role directly. Finally a panel based on a customer scenario. Post panel and throughout the interview process, received enthusiastic feedback directly and via the recruiter. Called in after the panel to discuss onboarding, timelines etc. Then they went quiet for around two months and told me I wouldn't get an offer after all. During that time the recruiter was evasive and stalling. On hearing the outcome I asked for feedback (she didn't have any non-positive feedback), so I asked to speak to the hiring manager who had discussed offers. He didn't want to speak to me directly, but a month later the recruiter came back with feedback, apparently my comp was way over what they were prepared to pay and didn't feel I'd be a better fit in another team (but no info on what that team would be or any intros to them). Overall a really poor recruitment experience which has completely wiped out my previously very favourable impression of Salesforce as an organisation. The guys on the ground I met were quite credible and authentic, but the team leaders I met didn't inspire trust or respect. And the process was a total waste of time, as they knew my comp from the first screening call (and I pushed them on whether I was within the scales of the role). There's been no follow up on introducing me to other opportunities or warm handover with the other senior recruiters. Just really poor all round. I'm speaking to several other tech companies and whilst they've all been a bit slow and clunky in their own ways, they've been straightforward about their process even when things haven't proceeded. Have since heard similar stories from folks I know who've applied in sales and delivery. My lasting impression of Salesforce is a slick marketing engine without much to back it up: insincere, chaotic, overpromise and underdeliver kind of place.

      Question 1

During the panel the questions were 'in character', so they highlighted that the technical issues were top priority and pushed to know what I would do to resolve them asap.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Salesforce

      Interview

After speaking with HR, there is a two-round interview process. The first interview is behavioral and conversational. The second is a panel interview -- the candidate prepares a presentation and walks through it with the interviewers. Its not a "role play" presentation -- you need to summarize a project you've worked on and exemplify your executive presence.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Salesforce (Chile) in Nov 2025

      Interview

The process was smooth. The HR team kept me informed of everything that was happening and the next steps. The interviewers were knowledgeable about the topics, and the conversations were productive.
