I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Starbucks (Oakville, ON) in Sep 2011
Interview
I applied online to about four locations and two days later they called me in for an interview. The manager asked if I could come in THAT day for an interview but I said I couldnt. This was my very first job interview and first potential job I was so nervous. She interviewed me the next day. I walked in about 5 minutes early and the manager offered me a free drink, i picked a passionfruit iced tea. We sat down on the tables and she asked me questions and even though I had no previous job experience she told me to relate it to life, school etc. Im a third year nursing student and she REALLY liked that. I told her all the parallels between working as a nurse and working here and she loved it. She said that a lot of starbucks employees are nurses and that they do exceptionally well. So I think she liked me from the start. I just got lucky I think, we got along really well. She hired me on the spot.
You just need to smile, be confident and prepare. This website helped me a lot in this interview I knew everything she was going to ask me. Emphasize that you are friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming. And that you really value customers and making them happy. I have no customer service experience but I still told her that I look forward to handing people their much needed coffee in the morning, and see their eyes light up. Make it seem like you would LOVE to work here, and it should be fine :).
Basically a short chat about my availability, my interest in the job, why I want to work there, how familiar I am with coffee and what my past experiences in hospitality were.
Easiest interview I've ever had. I was only asked 3 questions, 'tell me about yourself, what are your strengths & weaknesses, what is your availability?' Lasted about 10 minutes maximum
Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback. We appreciate your input and are happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed the interview process here at Starbucks.
it was great. I answered every question thoughtfully and easily. You have to have two interviews, one with the manager and one with the district manager. It is a in person interview. They ask many questions and will either hire you on the spot or you will have to call to see if you get the position.
