I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Starbucks (Ottawa, ON) in Sep 2023
Interview
The interview process is more casual than other job interviews I've experienced. Try your best to be yourself, as the customer service is integral to the role. Being friendly, open, and easy-going will be very beneficial. They want to see how you interact with strangers - and how you can be cheery and good spirited even when under stress (in an interview). Be prepared to provide many examples of the customer service you've done. Always have an example of a time you've dealt with a difficult customer. We have a customer satisfaction model called the LATTE model at Starbucks - Listen (to their concern), Apologize (about the mistake or inconvenience), Take Action (make them what they ordered), Thank (thank them), and Ensure Satisfaction (if you make them the drink they wanted, make sure there aren't any issues with the re-made one). If you can weave those elements into your answer when asked about dealing with customer complaints, you'll be golden!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you provided exceptional customer service.
Basically a short chat about my availability, my interest in the job, why I want to work there, how familiar I am with coffee and what my past experiences in hospitality were.
Easiest interview I've ever had. I was only asked 3 questions, 'tell me about yourself, what are your strengths & weaknesses, what is your availability?' Lasted about 10 minutes maximum
it was great. I answered every question thoughtfully and easily. You have to have two interviews, one with the manager and one with the district manager. It is a in person interview. They ask many questions and will either hire you on the spot or you will have to call to see if you get the position.
Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback. We appreciate your input and are happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed the interview process here at Starbucks.
