I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Tesla (Mountain View, CA) in Jan 2014
Interview
Had 1 hr interview with 3 members of the QA team. 2 members of teh team asked professional questions and at the last came teh QA manger who aske done question related to web testing and asked me illegal personal questions. Hiring manger was not ethical at all.
They asked me the following personal questions at a professional interview
1. How many kids do you have?
2. Age of your kids?
3 . who will take care of the kids? (Answer- Grandmom)
4. Is she going to stay here? For How long?
Its very unethical on part of teh QA hiring manager.
I happened to get the feedback later on that I was not flexible in timings as I mentioned i had a toddler and 5 year old girl.
They have rjected me.
After 1 week complained to teh HR. HR investigates and says that the hiring manger was perfect and they dint ask these personal question to me.
No justice was given to me.
I highly recommend that Tesla should get some ethical training on Hiring activities.

The interview lasted about an hour, two code questions, medium difficulty, and asked about past projects, the interviewer was pretty good, and there was an online test to look for bugs, not very difficult, but it really took more time

After applying the recruiter will reach out to you via email if there is good fit. This was for co-op position. There are questions that you need answer and send back to the recruiter. Then the first round is scheduled which is a coding round, varies by team.
