I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Thumbtack (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2024
Interview
After the initial interview with the recruiter, candidates are given a take-home test. The next step involves discussing your experience and the take-home test with the hiring manager. In my experience, the questions asked by the manager did not reflect the level of competence I expected, which was disappointing and revealing of the company's culture. Despite what is stated in their company introduction, it appears there is a bias towards certain races and nationalities in the hiring process. This experience clarified that this is not a company, or manager, I would like to work for.
Recruiter introduced the team and the company, as well as the hiring process. He did not ask me to go through my resume or have any background questions for me.
Phone Interview: it began from hiring manager introducing herself, then walking through my experience, and ending with me asking questions. The whole process is respectful and full of questions. However, in the process I realized the team's focus was on pricing, an area that isn't my strength.

Question 1
Asking about work experience in my current company, previous company, what do I know about Thumbtack.
Straightforward. Started with a recruiter screen, takehome, and a subsequent panel with the hiring manager.
Did the takehome and got rejected. Asked for feedback and received no response. Poor experience overall. Very disappointing.
