      Assistant Professor Interview

      Dec 26, 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at UCLA in Jan 2010

      Interview

Applied online, was then called for interview. It was a long 2 day process starting early morning with breakfast interview, then a series of 1-on-1s (about 30/50 minutes each), then a presentation then more meetings -- and was treated to dinner (both evenings). Very tiring process, but everyone was very friendly and nobody was quite 'out to get me'. Very cordial and interesting talks on all the 1-on-1 meetings.

      Jun 3, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at UCLA in Feb 2022

      Interview

I applied for the position. They called me after 4 weeks for an online interview (30min). They asked 5 totally conventional questions: 1) why you want to apply; 2) experience in teaching; 3) experience as a researcher; 4) experience with service activities; and 5) diversity & inclusion. After another 3-4 weeks, they invited me for an online "faculty visit", due to COVID, which consisted of 5 days (Mon-Fri) where I had to be available 3h per day for several one-to-one meetings, job talk, practicum with students (3h), etc. Most of the people were polite and friendly. However, the process was clearly too long (I have my current job responsibilities), rather complicated to be carried out everything online, and the description of itinerary activities was not properly explained.
