I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at US Postal Service (Los Angeles, CA) in Sep 2014
Interview
I applied online after being told by another employee that the Post Office was hiring for the Christmas season. I got an email within the next two days notifying me that a drug test and a background check was needed in order to continue with the hiring process and to come in for an interview a couple weeks later. I made an appointment for the drug test and gave consent to a background check right then and there. USPS was mass hiring so there were about 50 people there to interview. We all stood outside of the HR building until about 15 minutes after we were told to arrive. We were all escorted inside by the man who pretty much ran the whole hiring process into the cafeteria. We filled out paperwork and it was verified by a few HR clerks and was given a 25 page packet with tax related information and was told to come back the next day with a completed packet. The next day, we turned in the packet and was fingerprinted. By now about 80% of the applicants who were present the previous day were disqualified and asked to leave. We were then asked to pick our hours (it was first come, first serve). About 3 weeks later was the two day paid orientation which consisted of videos and general information like how to clock in and where to park. After the second day was the fist day of work.ge

Interview
It wasn’t too intimidating. Background checks were conducted. Finger printing. A lot of formalities. This was prior to the holiday parcel rush so it was pretty quick easy and efficient. I don’t remember the interview process being too hard either.

This is annoying why must it be 30 words ridiculous! Blah blah blah blah blah
The interview process was over an hour. They give you a specific time and date to attend. Once you get to the location, you would have to stand in a lobby til HR gets you. You and a group of others will go to a room where the interview will take place
