      Flight Attendant Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at United Airlines (Houston, TX) in Mar 2025

      Interview

First, you submit your application then are prompted to complete an assessment. It's basically testing how well you're able to follow instructions and stick to company policies, but don't breeze through it too quickly there were one or two that required a little critical thinking, but it's not rocket science. There are a lot of resources online you can research beforehand if you're not a great test taker or have any concerns. You're also invited to attend an informational presentation they do biweekly. It's optional, but I did it and I'm glad because I learned a lot. Never been a flight attendant before or so it was helpful in showing the nitty-gritty of the structure, pay scales, scheduling, training, base placement, etc. Also the first of many times they will go over in detail the tattoo policy lol so pay attention to that and get out of the race early if your tattoo placements don't meet their policy, they're very strict about it and apparently people will make it all the way to the end of the interview process after many checkpoints just to be disqualified. So save yourself the time and energy if that's you. Overall super informative. If you pass the assessment, you're invited to do a self-taped interview. I was stressing so bad over this but it's really not bad. Just smile, be energetic and professional. The next and final round is a group 'interview" in Houston. You'll have a couple of dates to choose from probably, the they'll send you a flight voucher for you to book your own travel. Interviews begin promptly at 10am so I flew in the night before and stayed at hotel nearby at their discounted rate (paying for hotel sucks but 10/10 recommend. Flying that AM = tired and stressed). BRING YOUR PASSPORT AND ARRIVE EARLY. 9:30am is when the doors open, and that's when you should arrive. I arrived at 9:42 or so and was in the final group brought upstairs (they bring you in in droves kinda like boarding zones as people arrive). It was a great experience and everyone was kind, and professional, including all of the candidates in my group (about 40). I was a little surprised to be honest, given not all FAs I've interacted with have been top notch. Most are wonderful, but definitely not all in my experience. So that threw me a little, as did the ages of the candidates. I'm in my 20s and just didn't expect that there'd be people in their 60s and seemingly 70s applying the same way I am. I actually thought they worked for United for about half the day. I'll try not to say too much - the whole thing felt shrouded in mystery to me, and that made me nervous and kind of off my game but there really isn't much obvious interviewing. They observe you -apparently beginning with your flight to Houston somehow lol - and are looking for your professionalism, energy, and engagement in the process. I did not receive my CJO that day and received my rejection letter a week or so later. If you make it that far, just keep a relaxed professional and energetic demeanor, interact well with others - but don't get too friendly or chatty or make a best friend you stick to the whole day. Pay close attention to the time when they release you for breaks, and be back early from those. And in the seat they've given you. Don't hopping around when it's time to resume- that got me. I'm very bubbly and professional and engaging but so were all the other candidates, and they were more confident and on their game than I was. Don't second guess yourself, have fun, and enjoy the process is my advice. And all the other stuff I said.
