Received an invite for an interview call with hiring manager in July 2021. Hopped on a video call to discuss the role and gauge my technical experience. I remember giving a brief intro and after doing so, the HM said something along the lines of, "What qualifies you for this role?". I remember going through my experience with CI/CD and testing applications end-to-end. I also discussed my development/testing experience with Python, along with my open source contributions. After answering, I remember the HM posing the question again, "What qualifies you for this role? Why should I hire you?". I went through my response again, but added more specific details that time. The hiring manager asked for a third time, saying something along the lines of "What qualifies you for this role? Why should I hire you? I really need to find people quickly and you're not giving me a good enough reason". At that point, I detected frustration and hostility. I remember continuing to state my case, but no matter what I seemed to say, the HM wasn't happy with my response. After continuous failures, I remember saying something along the lines of, "Well, it seems like you're not interested in pursuing me further as a candidate. Thank you for your time, but I think we're done here". I would've rather received a rejection email than going through that experience. Lesson learned: Never apply or interview at Veeva Systems again.
