Why unprofessional?
After multiple rounds of screening, assessments, and technical interviews, the HR team failed to disclose critical employment details upfront.
Instead of being transparent from the beginning, they revealed at the last stage that I would be on Troogue's payroll while working at Virtusa's office for a client.
This lack of upfront communication wastes candidates' time and leads to confusion.
A professional hiring process should be clear about employment terms, payroll, and working conditions from the start, allowing candidates to make informed decisions.
Why Unprofessional?
Even after successfully completing all interview rounds, including salary discussions and reaching a mutual agreement on compensation, the HR team unexpectedly requested an additional technical interview after several days.
Their justification was a proposed reassignment to a different project within the same client organization, citing my salary expectations as exceeding their budget.
This reflects a lack of foresight and ineffective planning in the hiring process. If compensation concerns were a factor, they should have been addressed earlier in the process rather than after final discussions.
Altering the agreed-upon hiring process at the last stage to renegotiate compensation demonstrates unprofessionalism and undermines candidate trust. A well-structured recruitment process should prioritize transparency, consistency, and respect for the candidate’s time, rather than introducing last-minute changes.
I felt disappointed by the lack of transparency and professionalism, which ultimately led me to withdraw my candidature.
