I first had a phone interview with the recruitment team in Toronto and after which I was asked to come in for a face to face interview with the same person. In my third interview with the recruitment team in Calgary, it was very unorganized. It was scheduled inaccurately (even though they were very strict with the time they had to complete the interview within) the video conference did not work, it was not with all the panel members who were supposed to attend…etc.
During this interview, I asked about any diversity and inclusion policies that may exist within the company, and the interviewer stated that it’s hard to implement that and WestJet does not want to hire just because people look different. If that is the mentality of management of what diversity and inclusion mean, then I think the company is missing the point.
Although after these three interviews I was not selected to continue, I understand if I am not the right candidate, however, after three interviews I was sent a system generated an email which was impersonally and not professional. Overall the interview process was rigid, cold and not the perception you would hope from the company.
