I was ghosted. I took part in a screening call with the Talent Acquisition Manager and was told I’d receive an update within the next couple of days. I was also asked for my availability for the next interview stage. Unfortunately, after the timeline to hear back had passed and sending a polite email asking for a follow up, I received no response. Over a week passed since my email asking for an update without any response, acknowledgment or closure. As a candidate, especially for a Recruitment role reporting into the Talent Acquisition Manager, this was disappointing. Clear communication and timely feedback should be a basic standard in recruitment, particularly from a talent manager. I understand hiring processes can shift or be delayed but candidates deserve transparency rather than ghosting. This experience didn’t align with the company’s stated values around people and culture.
Advice to the Talent Acquisition Manager: Model candidate care and improve communication with candidates, even if the update is simply that timelines have changed or to send a rejection template email. A brief reply goes a long way in demonstrating respect and professionalism.
