      Software Engineer Distributed Systems Interview

      Nov 6, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Yelp (London, England) in Sep 2018

      Interview

First stage of the process is a very easy hackerrank, then a recruiter call - basically asks you why Yelp and besides that mostly speaks to himself. Next stage is a phone interview with a small system design element, and then coding, the question itself was very easy but I found the interviewer disengaged and inexperienced on both questions - he was only a year out of Uni himself. I wasted time explaining my thought process and only managed 2/3 of the versions of the question he asked. He also failed to explain what he wanted which wasted some time.
