      Senior Recruiter Interview

      Nov 8, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Zapier in Oct 2019

      Interview

I first had a video interview with one of the recruiters, who wasn't the most friendly. Could tell that she was occupied looking at other things on her computer during our call. After that I was asked to complete a homework assignment, which took about 45-60 minutes to test my communication style. Once passing this, I was set up to speak with the Director of Recruiting and had a really great and engaging call with him. I was then moved on to a live skills test with 3 internal recruiters where I was tasked with reading a lengthy job description and run a fake intake meeting, then source & present candidates, and then reviewed applications with the team. After making it almost through the entire process, I received an (obviously) templated rejection email stating I'm no longer being considered and that they wouldn't be giving me any feedback. For all of the cool things that Zapier is doing and with how great it seems to work there, they have a pretty poor interview process and don't seem to practice what they preach. With values like "transparency" and "feedback" you'd think that'd be a huge part of their recruiting practice.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Zapier (Bonney Lake, WA) in Oct 2021

      Interview

One of the best interview processes I've experience. Each interviewer was friendly and transparent, and I felt super comfortable and conversational vs trying to run through a laundry list of questions. I learned a lot about the culture. Went through three rounds - one with the hiring manager focused on experience and culture, one with two recruiters looking at skills and behavioral questions and one with the department leader who shared more about the company and focused on culture. There was also a writing/skills activity that I actually enjoyed and again got to see more of what to expect in this role. The best part was the communication - I heard back consistently within 24 hours from submitting the application to a final decision. Overall, the process showed that they live out their values and made me very invested in working with them.
