I worked at ASICS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent mission/vision. Globally recognized brand that has a very good reputation for quality in everything they do.

    Cons

Global company with Japan home office. Although each region operates fairly independently, there is still much direction and control from Japan. In many things like quality and detail that is a positive, but in communication, quick decision making, and vision alignment, there are struggles to stay competitive.

    Advice to Management

They are doing well, making great progress to improve market share from the big competition. Advice would be to make decisions quicker, and then adjust.

I have been working at ASICS part-time

    Pros

Great discounts, bonus, and better than average pay

    Cons

Hard to get promoted, they always get someone outside to fill management position

    I worked at ASICS full-time

    Pros

The team I worked with was fun and it felt kind of like a family. We held community outreach events which were always fun and it was enjoyable when the store was making great money during the peak seasons. I was passionate about selling the product because the product was so good it practically sold itself.

    Cons

Sometimes we would go a long time before new product was coming up which made customers and sales associates frustrated. The store is very high tech and that is great until wifi goes out and you cannot get anything to work and it's embarrassing when dealing with customers.

I have been working at ASICS full-time

    Pros

Great brand history of the footwear - mediocre (at best) apparel and accessories.

    Cons

Lack of leadership and communication. Sales are suffering and bad decisions are being made. The brand has no direction and leadership is a mess. You'll get promoted if you're among leadership's favorites, otherwise you will do the job of two (or more) with below average pay. A lot of turnover - the good ones are leaving (everyone is looking for other jobs) or have already left (about 40% turnover in the last 18 months). Half the company is moving to Boston by mid-2017. Don't believe anything management says - all lies. The corporate parent in Japan controls most everything - there is a disconnect in terms of management style with regard to how we do business in the USA.
Most of the positive reviews you find here on Glassdoor are from the associates in the Outlet stores... corporate (Irvine) is a different story. Stay away!

    Advice to Management

You'd better start treating your staff better or the band will continue to suffer. remember that it's the PEOPLE that make a company great.

I worked at ASICS part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Management, commission opportunities, and good environment to work. People really enjoy their work here and enjoy the relaxed environment.

    Cons

I do not think there are downsides to working here. Maybe there could be more opportunities to move up inside the workplace, but I haven't been working there long enough to say so.

    Advice to Management

I think you do a great job training employees and being flexible. Maybe go into more depth about training on proper selling and customer service techniques.

    Advice to Management

They are wonderful group of people I'm glad I'm able to share this experience in management with asics. I would say keep up the hard work.

I have been working at ASICS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great history
    Casual work environment
    Flexible
    Working for the international brand
    Product discount
    Gym and cafeteria
Opportunity to work with global team

    Cons

    Lack of leadership everywhere
    No direction
Too many changes in the upper management
    No transparency
Good people and hard workers are leaving
Favoritism (don't be fooled by the titles.)
Some teams have a bunch of people but some team has a few people. You will have to do EVERYTHING if you fall into those team.

    Advice to Management

Please think about employees. There were so many people worked hard and cared about this brand. That is why we increased our business. We really need help.
