    Pros

Coworkers are great and middle management is supportive.
Lots of training opportunities and growth within each department
    Good benefits and pay

    Cons

Entry level work can be boring but the supervisors try hard to make a fun casual atmosphere

    Advice to Management

If possible, give employees more flexibility to stretch their creative muscles on side projects

I have been working at Acadia Insurance full-time

    Pros

Good hours, friendly staff and teams. Benefits are comparable to other employers. You can stay in the position you are in for as long as you wish, however the pay is not adequate.

    Cons

Difficult to get ahead in this company. I've worked at Acadia for 4 years and have been unable to obtain any sort of advancement. Employees are shut out of positions as the company tends to hire from outside rather than promote its current staff.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the talent you currently have and help them achieve their goals. Employees not challenged to work hard when there are no incentives but pizza parties....

    Work life balance
    Treat employees great
    Co-workers/sense of community
    Not a stiff corporate vibe
During and after work events often

    Cons

    Pay is average to low
Communication could be better at times
Employee continued education benefits and support lacks
Slightly behind the times technology wise

    Advice to Management

IT/technology investments and advancements need to be top priority. Cannot efficiently compete with unlike tools.

I worked at Acadia Insurance as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people there are incredible and always look out for you. They are invested and care about you and want to help you as much as possible to grow and learn about how they do business and the insurance industry. The managers are always around to help and answer questions and support in the growth and development. Overall amazing company culture and employees

    Cons

Sometimes I wish there could have been more to do although they brought me on at an unusual time so it wasn't a fully planned internship. They did whatever they could to keep me as busy as possible though including getting me involved with the other departments.

    Advice to Management

    None

    Pros

You can get away with a lot since the managers are too busy trying to hide.

    Cons

There aren't very many bright people that work there, so there isn't much intellectual stimulation. The managers are all hired based upon who they know, not their capabilities or talent. Employees are asked their opinions, but then not listened to at all.

    Pros

Paycheck & Benefits, office with heat and toilet/running water

    Cons

    HR & Management sucks bigtime.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of HR as they are worthless. They hire the WRONG people 85% of the time as there is huge, revolving door turnover.

I worked at Acadia Insurance full-time

    Pros

The employees, below management level, are intelligent, hard-working and kind. Acadia clearly has a template they use to determine who to hire because most are superior employees.

    Cons

The management team is mean-spirited, untrustworthy, cruel at times, full of false promises, and mostly unaware of how to handle employees and how to successfully operate in the business. Staff turnover is abnormally high because of the treatment received at the hands of management. Salaries are lower than average and benefits are marginally acceptable. Good luck trying to take vacation time without repercussions. Expectations is that this job is your entire life, including mandatory contact during vacations and late night calls to discuss business. If you get on the bad side of management, they will stop at nothing to skewer you to the wall. Highly undesirable workplace.

    Advice to Management

Let someone else who knows what they are doing have your job.

I worked at Acadia Insurance full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pretty much left to do your own thing, which actually isn't as much of a perk as you might think. 401k & benefits generally good.

    Cons

Weak upper level management. No clear direction for the department or company. Much below average salary. Bonus, what bonus? HR, well one person is trustworthy. If you have any talent you'll look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Treat people with decency and figure out if you really want a LC department or just talk like you do. Learn how to pay for performance.
