I have been working at Acuative full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the regular workers are nice people and good to talk to and at least there's a decent break room

    Cons

The company has a lack of leadership and Directors are constantly leaving (with one of the better ones leaving next week) which leaves the remaining Directors having to pick up all the slack with one of them being absolutely awful to deal with due to how he micro manages everything breathing down everyone's necks.

Currently the company is losing clients left and right and picks up whatever clients it can get its hands on which also tends to be the clients that other companies don't want to work with. Things are honestly only good for you here if you're lucky enough to be on the UCS team and working directly with Cisco (the only contract that's keeping this company afloat). Due to all these issues the company gave zero raises this year to the regular workers while it gave bonuses and raises to all the upper management so they could all pat themselves on the back for how terrible they are at their jobs. A recent e-mail from the CEO is making it very clear layoffs are coming this January for most departments just like last January and I'd imagine they'll be just as crappy as they were this year and give people laid off a whole 2 weeks of severance pay and of course a second year of not even a 10 cent raise (can't take the money from management bonuses and raises).

The company USED to at least cover certs but that changed last year to them only paying for 1 attempt to them now saying they'll 'cover the cost once you pass' which seems to mean 'we hope you forget' as several people have waited months for said reimbursement and raises you're supposed to get for the cert.

There's also the issue of no upward mobility in most departments so in the end this jobs main benefit is to get some experience and then go and get a job at a much better company that will also do things like help employee development by truly covering certs.

A final issue is that the company has a 'butts in the chair mentality'. See the company has a 2 floor building that they've had for over 2 decades and they never once used the second floor for anything but storage. Hell the second floors never even been finished. Due to this the company seems to try and justify the cost of the building they barely use by refusing to let people do their jobs at home when almost every job in the NOC would be done from the comfort of your own home. Amusingly for a company that's all about 'security' it'd probably be more secure to work at home than the NOC that's all locked down....and surrounded with glass that you can look right into since it's not frosted (it's like a bad joke).

    Advice to Management

Ha! Like the management of this company listens to anyone. The best thing for this company would be almost everyone in upper management being removed.

I have been working at Acuative full-time

    Pros

Good PTO, Mostly a good group of people to work with, Guaranteed pay for FE's

    Cons

Company demands way too much of your personal time, low pay compared to industry standard, high employee turnover, chronically understaffed, they bid for contracts on projects beyond the company's scope of knowledge.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting the CFO dictate policy, listen more to the employees

I worked at Acuative full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

In my role, I had the opportunity to be a part of building great teams and working with all levels of the organization. I was given the opportunity to think out of the box and contribute to the success of the organization. The employees work hard and are rewarded by the organization in various ways (Clambake, BBQ's, Holiday lunches, Cedar Point). The facility has great snack/drink selections, work out facility, and ideal locale. I made some great friends while working for Acuative.

    Cons

Compensation across the board is on the low side
    PTO program needs revamped

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to the needs/wants of the employees (benefits, tools, etc.)
Continue to reward the employees for their hard work and dedication.

    Pros

Nice facility and the recent remodel looks good. There are some really good people that work for this company.

    Cons

The CFO runs the company and it's not a good thing. He's chased away anyone with a brain that tries to tell him how the business should be ran. A couple of our Sr. Leaders left a couple years ago and it's never been the same. As a manager I felt like they would take on ANY type of work just to win a contract and the contracts are always bad!! Bad contracts and bad leadership causes a lot of bad attitudes. That along with really low salaries = a high turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

I would get rid of C-Level and VP level leaders and hire a real executive team.

    Pros

a decent amount of kind people work here. The remodel is nice. That's all...

    Cons

Upper Management has poor communication skills, and no Direction for the company. If they did it was never communicated down. This is why the company has such high turn over, they cant keep Directors, Managers, or Employees at this company. There are a large amounts of attitudes in this company in all departments, Maybe less in the NOC, but everywhere else including HR! Stop making back door deals and promising customers things, without speaking to the sales rep/Project Team. There is such a lack of structure here.

    Advice to Management

Get an actual plan for the future of this Company, Treat your Management and Employees better, COMMUNICATION is KEY! Stop thinking like a small company.

I have been working at Acuative full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

None at all, a dead end company

    Cons

    - Dishonest management
    - No loyalty to its employees. They are quick to remove people to make their numbers look good.
    - Will screw you out of benefits. A coworker was being let go. He had a serious medical condition which required expensive medicine. He asked management could give him 2 more days before they released him because he needed the medical coverage for the month. They refused. Absolutely heartless.
    - Management is completely clueless. Constantly not acting on the big deals and missing opportunities.
    - Back office is completely incompetent and nasty. Responses to benefits and other important questions are delayed and ignored. No respect for the workers who are the heart and soul of the company.
    - They expect you to take your own PTO (personal time off) days for certain recognized holidays. This place is run like a factory.
    - No investment in their people. No funding for training or self improvement.
    - Benefits are horrible - their own CFO doesn't even use the company's benefits package, he uses a totally independent one. What does that say about a company when the benefits are good enough for the employees, but not good enough for management?

    Advice to Management

    - Treat your workers with respect
    - Pay them according to industry standards
    - Come up with a growth strategy
    - Stop penny pinching
    - Inform your workers how the company is performing, they have their professional lives invested in it!

I have been working at Acuative full-time

    Pros

I've worked for Acuative over a year now. The company is a good company to work for very flexible and most of the people there will work with you to be successful. They provide 401k, medical, PTO and life insurance to their employees. Most of the clients are easy to work with and so are the techs that call in.

    Cons

High Medical copay, limited PTO days no vacation day separate from your PTO, If you are sick it counts as taking a PTO. Hours aren't always great, some people work their whole weekend no rotation. Large over turn of employees. Some very slow days in the NOC.
