    Pros

decent amount of autonomy, but really matters on your dept / manager. Beautiful building.

    Cons

Revolving door in upper management for several years -- No consistent leadership and poor management hiring choices. In addition, many would be "high performers" that have wanted to make improvements were not given the needed tools or resources + often overlooked. This has led to many "good people" leaving the company. while some management positions in IT filled with seriously un-qualified people that hung around long enough to get promoted.

New CIO and CEO are definitely dedicated and have made some recent improvements, but the company has suffered from systemic lack of accountability and poor inter-department communication. It will take time to improve company culture and improve morale after an extended period in the doldrums.

Whith that said, there are several other bright spots and dedicated people that are truly trying to make a difference and help many of our less fortunate members. Lori Ann (Risk) is one example of a serverly under appreciated superstar.

    Advice to Management

Listen to those in the trenches that can provide clear insights embrace change. Cut the dead weight - you know who they are.

    Pros

There are some great people here. It is a long standing brand in the Bronx. People here are passionate about the service and the work.

    Cons

The pay is lower than standard. I mean low!

There are still issues with siloed conversations and some people who still feel the way it was done is the only way to do it; normally it is the insecure ones that do not know how to adapt, and they get in the way of progress.

Lack of standard communication between departments and not enough dissemination of strategy/ corporate tactics to the managers and staff. It is as if information is being hoarded.

    Advice to Management

The activities, spearheaded by the new CEO, currently being taken to remedy these issues are great. Start holding people accountable, ensure managers are being collaborative. Be transparent with issues and where we stand. The new efforts are heading in that direction. Start building career growth plans for high performers, or the talent will leave; and I mean real plans with goals, not just seminars to grow in a skill set

I have been working at Affinity Health Plan full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible, cares about professional development, supportive colleagues. Great location, increased employee engagement. The Human Resources team does a lot to make employees feel appreciated and valued. Convenient location for commuting.

    Cons

Salary is not competitive. You can earn more wages doing the same kind of work at other Managed care organizations. Affinity is definitely an organization where you can excel professionally, however the wages are not comparable to industry standard. Need to become more flexible with remote work policy, it’s not always necessary to be in the office.

    Advice to Management

Stick to the pitch of offering annual salary increases before risking losing quality human capital
