I have been working at Alternatives part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Competitive pay. They hire people with little to no experience. Great entry level job in the field of developmental disabilities. They send out a weekly internal position posting. There is room for advancement.

    Cons

The way some programs are structured is frustrating in the sense that they encourage bad behavior from clients. They are ridiculously strict with training requirements. I have had many errors in my paychecks.

    Recommends

    Pros

You can do anything you want! They are open to new projects and ideas. Great location in Montreal. Open minded fun people to work with.

    Cons

It is a little non-shalont, often times I did not know what to work on and was just wasting time. I could not exactly pin point what Alternatives actually did or what it's main ideals were. I also do not speak french very well which caused me to be left out of much of the organization.

    Advice to Management

Work on creating a vision for Alternatives which sets a direction for the organization. The organization needs more focus. Also, invest in team building and leadership training.
