    Pros

Seen a lot of change over the past couple of years. I absolutely love the direction the company is headed. Smart leaders, fun and good people. Transparent organization. Product that is advancing faster than I've seen at other companies. Happy to be a part of this team. Great company!

    Cons

Things are still evolving, so training continues to be necessary.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I have been working at Ascentis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working on a better product to sell but it is so outdated they don’t win much business.

    Cons

Where to begin? CEO is a liar that has been installed by the cronies at Summit partners. Cares nothing for people except that they line his pockets with cash so people are an annoyance he will put up with. Frankly he’s really good at coming across as a good dude. My friends that were just laid off have families and Ascentis doesn’t give a damn. Product can’t do many taxes which is a joke and it’s outsourced to Ceridian anyway. Sales team ended up at 40% of plan this year. New CSO has zero experience in the HcM world and doesn’t know what he’s doing. Benefits have always been mediocre here and are getting worse. Product belongs in the Small business space...very limited on functionality and reporting is awful. Corporate is crawling with CEOs buddies that bring zero value. This is a classic case of why you don’t trust VC firms when you are an employee. Take my advise and start looking for a new job!

    Advice to Management

Keep it up...you are reaping what you sow. You deserve everything you will get.

    Pros

Nothing is best here stay away from this company

    Cons

You will be lowballed, underpaid and this company will make you overwork. Company system is outdated, Unappreciative and very weird management. Employees are not treated equally. Any non experience person can be a manager, director, vice president in the company. But if a person wants to be a senior they will think years and years. Basically leads don't give opportunity to juniors to step up. This company is not for the people who wants to step up in their future. Managers are unsupportive never helps to set your goals, lots of micromanaging and trust issues. Managers do one on one for personal talks and gossip about other members. New Management is very unprofessional. Company cultural norms are of no use. Immigrants don't trust this company. They will make all false promises and you will be kept in dark. Even don't trust your manager who always fools you around and they don't have any idea about the Immigration processes.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent, Be loyal to your employees, Treat everyone equally, Take training for how to be professional.

Ascentis is a great company to be apart of. They are doing all of the right things and growing in a manner where the company can last. The new leadership team provides great visibility and is transparent in change.

    Cons

Like all companies, change comes. Training is an area that is being addressed and constantly getting better.

I worked at Ascentis full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Nice new office in MN
    Good work/life balance
    Some good people

    Cons

First - the technology is incredibly outdated. While they are investing in developers, the developers are tasked with catching up to the competition verses innovating. There are still parts of the system that have to be accessed by downloading an app to your computer. They focus on the less savvy buyers that don't understand automation, reporting and analytics offered by mid-market competitors.

None of the direct sellers are over 40% of their quota, the culture is very stagnant and not motivating. In addition, the sales division lacks leaders that are able to drive results and not capable of forward thinking strategic planning.

Several have commented that all the good people from Ascentis left not long after Summit took over - sure, all the GOOD ones are gone, the remaining Ascentis leaders are anything but leaders and are holding the company back. Since the Summit team is new to the industry they are relying on the input from a bunch of small market leaders from the big blue and red.

    Advice to Management

Dig into the information you are receiving from your leaders. Start asking why, how and what questions to get a better handle on what is really happening in the organization.

    Pros

The employees are enthusiastic to be here and everyone is committed to the success of the company. Great management team - excellent at coaching and allowing reps to work their territory and accounts without micromanagement.

    Cons

Need to provide better tools to the sales team for prospecting, update the brand in light of the recent acquisition of NovaTime.

    Advice to Management

Continue with the excellent messaging and communication to the team. The sales team could benefit from prospecting tools, cell phones, and additional marketing budget and materials.

    Pros

Some good employees to work with.

    Cons

May be some growth if you are in MN. Product is outdated and reminds you of software in the early 90s. Not a SaaS product, good old patch work.

Only if you find nothing else chose to work here. Most positive reviews are fake or from typical HR cheer leaders

    Advice to Management

Work on brand building and and build a true SaaS product.

    I worked at Ascentis full-time

    Pros

Under current leadership the only pro's that come to mind are for those that work in the new MN HQ.

For those that have time in their schedule, there are some cool on-site benefits. And the truth is, you won't have time.

    Cons

Imagine being sold a luxury car, having it delivered, getting in to start it, only to find that the engine doesn't turn - and then opening the hood to discover it empty. That's what any new employee at Ascentis will experience after their first few weeks.

What's on the surface is all gloss and beauty. But under the hood, an entirely different experience.
