Not Optimistic "New" Avon

Pros

They pay well. The hours are normal.

Cons

The company lacks strategy, direction, and the technology to keep up with the modern woman. The morale is awful, almost everyone is looking for a new job. Senior management flip flops on decisions constantly which causes a lot of rework, churn, and waste of money. People are constantly having to backpedal and it has a ripple effect onto all departments. Groups are unwilling to support each other. It's so difficult to get anything done - there are so many layers of approvals and people involved. however, they're losing a lot of knowledge with employees leaving and have no documentation of this knowledge. It's a treasure hunt every time you need a question answered. There is no support system - most people throw each other under the bus.

Pros

Offers employment. The building is heated during the winter. There is running water in the building.

Cons

This is not a company that you should apply to. If you currently work here, you are either riding it out or actively looking for new job. Many of the department's are unhappy working with current management. Speaking from experience, the Sourcing department is managed by individuals who lack the basic sourcing skills to affect positive change. They also lack basic people skills which will cause many more to quit, whether they have a job lined up or not.

Trying, but won't be able to fix

Pros

- Some strong new executives, which led to some of the weaker employees leaving - Still a large company with resources - Some new ideas being generated - Great products

Cons

- Silos and politics are extreme; executives will talk about each other behind their backs. They will try to have projects to take over other areas, and many people get in the middle of this. Leads to a lot of unproductive time. - Some weak executives remained...they were the ones who led Avon to the declines of today, and drive the political culture within. They are reactive, not proactive, and don't know the first thing about making a great strategy and then sticking to it. Stains the culture coming from the top. The company won't change with them around - Extreme politics in Marketing with 2 heads of Marketing, which doesn't make any sense - Not a modern company, won't invest in technology - Bringing in the same consumer expertise that didn't help in the past - Overall, don't think they know what they're doing - No growth, and probably won't be able to fix it
