Pros

It's difficult as a "newer" employee to say this, but the only Pros I found at Axalta in my 3 years would be the legacy DuPont people. They KNOW the business and how to make it work, treat others with respect, and have values. I've learned the most from those people because the new hires are clueless. I've been told I'm a "traitor" for voicing that opinion as the legacy people are considered to be dead weight that needs to be removed. Some of the newer people are good, but the best ones are in the mid to lower range roles.

Cons

Management/Leadership is made up of clueless people making bad decisions. Hiring people for jobs they can't handle, and promoting only new hires. I've worked at 3 different companies and this one by far has the worst leadership -- especially in Procurement and IT. No respect for people. Not just letting bad behavior continue - but promoting those doing it. --- It is also a cubicle environment, so constant interruptions all day. If you care about your job - be prepared to spend all your nights and weekends working because it's the only time you can actually think and concentrate. Cubicles are NOT promoting collaboration - but they do promote tension, stress, noise pollution, and frustration. Directors and above have offices so they don't understand or care about the cubicle complaints. But lets face it - it's much cheaper to just stick all your people in open pens.

Pros

It was nice to be able to walk to work because I lived in the city. That was about it.

Cons

Where to start? The first year I worked at Axalta, I took on the workload of two other people. They eliminated a position and gave me the work. Later on, someone had to go on medical leave, and they asked me to take the workload while they were on disability. Sure! I'm a team player and willing to do that. By the time the first year was coming to an end, I went in for my annual review and was shocked when they told me I wasn't doing enough and needed to step it up. I was hoping to get their help to get some higher education so I could move up within the company and was told that due to my lack of ownership in my job, I was not going to be supported in my endeavors. My supervisor told me she wanted to "take me under her wing" and mold me into a better employee. Which to her, must have been to mold me into her assistant, and hold me back from trying to pursue other Assistant positions that opened up in the company. I have never had a boss that I felt was a bully, until Axalta. When I went to HR to voice my concerns about her, all that did was result in my second negative performance review a few days later. Although, it wasn't really a performance review. It was more so a series of questions about Axalta (i.e. how many employees they have, what they do, etc) and what I think my CEO is looking for in an employee. I had brought my years worth of emails and support that other coworkers had sent me for doing a good job. She wouldn't even look at them. She gave me my test, and sent me on my way. Needless to say, no raise was ever given. Axalta is ran by the mindset that their employees are pawns. Every person is replaceable, and the people in the company love to stab each other in the back. I was told when I first starting working there that "she will throw you under the bus when a bus isn't coming" in regards to a coworker. Many of them liked to point out what others are doing wrong to take the eyes off of themselves. There are certain employees that upper management view as irreplaceable, and it was infuriating because these same people were the first to push their work onto others. If you are a hard worker, don't bother interviewing with Axalta. You will never be appreciated for what you can provide them.

Pros

OK pay, Health care, 401K

Cons

Since the appointment of the new Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) approximately a year ago, the Procurement organization has gone down the drain. This individual lacks both industry knowledge and interpersonal skills, and attempts to mask these shortcomings through an impolite, disrespectful and almost abusive demeanor. Even before familiarizing himself with the team, a group of consultants was brought in to breath down our necks throughout the day. These consultants possess a similar level of industry expertise as the CPO, which is to say very little, and their involvement has yielded minimal to no results. Achievements made by the existing Axalta team, (in a declining market) are being assigned to the consultants. This skewed narrative is then circulated internally to justify the substantial fees paid to these consultants. Axalta team members then find themselves questioned about the "uncaptured opportunity" these superhero consultants were now able to capture and are placed on a performance plan. There is no money for travel anymore because the consultants drained the travel budget staring at tanks and pipelines at the plant. The CPO himself further consumes the travel budget by pretending the UK has any relevance (though Axalta hardly holds any assets there) I believe this is done so he can enjoy family visits on company budget. Furthermore a freeze on new hires is in place which includes the replacement of departing team member. Their responsibilities are then being shifted onto others, creating an unsustainable workload for the already strained team members who remain.
