I worked at BIC full-time (More than 8 years)
Pros
The brand is well recognized and respected. The people are great.
Cons
The company has been on a downward spiral for years now. Morale has never been lower and management does not seem to care. The only thing that matters is the bottom line and they do not care how many people are stressed, over worked, and ready to break. They punish employees if the numbers are not met instead of encouraging and looking for a new direction. This company used to be a great place to work, but now it is a toxic environment where management will not care about you or anyone else, just get the job done. People are leaving and being fired while they do not refill the positions and continue to pile more and more work on those that are left, no wonder everyone is quitting. There is no career development or discussions unless you work in sales or marketing and you can forget about internal growth or advancement, if doesn’t exist here! If an opportunity arises they won’t even consider you. Honestly, the culture is not at all a friendly environment or great place to work.
Advice to Management
Worry about your people!! They are the reason that you have a business to run at all. Amazing employees are leaving because you have made this place intolerable to work for. Start developing the employees you have and promote from within before even more people leave and you will not have a business to run.

I worked at BIC full-time (Less than a year)
Pros
exposure to an international company. the rest of the company seems to follow the intended culture, but Group Finance plays by their own rules and sells you on something they are not.
Cons
systems are not integrated, there is no teamwork, no communication, not allowed to talk to anyone, not allowed to be away from your desk, lack of respect from leadership, they do not practice what they preach. no opportunity for growth, no talent development, Group does not participate in company events such as ice cream celebrations, summer bbq, volunteering. company culture has deteriorated in the past few years.
Advice to Management
calm your ego and work with your team not against them. the mentality of this is how its always been done, and I'm the director you are not will continue the downward financial spiral and high level of turnover.
I worked at BIC full-time (More than a year)
Pros
Paid the bills, free snacks every Wed.
Cons
The management did not really care to listen to what the workers had to say or to resolve the issues in the team. There was no team effort and the MLT co workers talked like they were in high school with no respect and very unprofessional.
Not only that, one of them only worked 3 days a week by abusing the FMLA and the rest of the team had to pick up her slack and therefore working over time almost every Saturday. Also, the supervisor was unprofessional as well. One of them actually made personal comments out loud in the public and everyone could hear it. Very rude and unprofessional. Avoid the MLT team as much as possible. It's not worth it.
Advice to Management
Unless the supervisors changed their attitude, the company is going to slide downhill and getting from bad to worst. There is no teamwork and workers are there just to pay their bills and no one is happy at work.
That's a really bad thing especially when the workers are dealing with the customers as well. Imagine the attitude towards the customers if they are not happy themselves. Do you think they gonna treat the customers right?
I have been working at BIC full-time
Pros
NONE, you will hate this job ( because of supervision) and end up leaving in 6 mo.
Cons
YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY TRAINING FROM ANYONE ON DAY SHIFT THAT HAS ANY SKILLS. you will spend your entire time following around people who not only dont know their job , they refuse to let you do ANYTHING on your own. when you do get to 2nd shift you will have to work countless hours of overtime to cover for the senior employees who are always taking FRIDAYS & MONDAYS OFF FORCING YOU TO WORK 12 HRS A DAY ON THURSDAY, FRIDAY , SATURDAY, then come in on SUNDAY NIGHT TO COVER 3RD SHIFT...
YOU WILL HAVE NO HOMELIFE OR PERSONAL LIFE WHATSOEVER
Advice to Management
stop bullying people and admit when you are wrong
I have been working at BIC full-time (More than a year)
Pros
With a variety of jobs, and a range of difficulties it's the place to work if you're looking for a factory environment, to get on your feet, and to be hired by one of the fairest employers around. Start through a temp, pass a UA and you're hired.
Cons
Staff is always short, and some of the staff that's there doesn't care about their quality and it's adds tasks and duties to the employees that do care. Don't rely on the wage here as your primary source of income.
Advice to Management
Pay the employees that keep the place afloat for their efforts, pay the others what they deserve based on their statistics.
I have been working at BIC full-time (More than 10 years)
Pros
People and the brand are the two good things
Cons
Lack of leadership, everything is done to please the family rather than what is best for the company, lots of politics.
Advice to Management
Hire an unbiased external CEO

I worked at BIC full-time (More than a year)
Pros
It's great for the guys who are "grandfathered in" on the benefits and compensation package.
Comfortable place to work for those who've been there their entire career.
Cons
Company does not embrace diversity or change well at all.
They are working with antiquated systems and processes and a management team that is not equipped to handle the ever-changing, newly challenging market.
Culture is awful and leaders are allowed to treat people with disrespect and negative emotion due to the business facing challenges for the first time in decades.
Advice to Management
Do better. Be courageous in implementing systemic change before your brand is obsolete. Bring in the talent needed to progress the business forward and let them do their jobs. Show your people that they're valued and respect, always...not just when things are good. And take responsibility for training people who've spent their entire careers with you.
