I have been working at Bristol Hospital full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Individual staff members within each department are wonderful, and hard working.

    Cons

The CEO makes an incredibly high salary (and bonuses), but the hospital is constantly making decisions to cut back on benefits to employees and their families.

They have cut back on time off by about 2 weeks since I began working for the hospital.

Annual raises are not guaranteed, and when we do get them they are not cost of living raises, so it's essentially a pay cut every year. They haven't done a market analysis on my job title (ever) and when talking with colleagues with the same title from other hospitals I am paid close to $15 thousand a year less than them. When I brought this up to HR, the CEO got involved and said how dare I "dictate my salary". That is not how I presented it, I merely informed them of the change in the market. Meanwhile new staff are getting hired with a higher pay rate than myself. Yet I am still told to "wait until the next market analysis". I'm hoping to leave for another company soon because this is the only way I will get paid a higher rate.

They recently announced that health insurance will no longer cover spouses. This is a huge expense and health insurance was previously one of the big benefits of working for Bristol Hospital. I'm truly upset by this change and is the last straw for me. Hoping I will find another job soon.

    Advice to Management

Saying you care about employees isn't enough. You need to show your employees they are of value, especially employees who have been loyal to your organization for over 10 years.

Bring back insurance coverage for spouses and provided a cost of living wage/more frequent market adjustments for salary.

What is the benefit of working for this organization if you keep cutting benefits?

I worked at Bristol Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Many nice people and some very committed employees. Community hospital. Many areas are quality driven and trying to do the right thing.

    Cons

A lot of changes in management in the past 2.5 years. The C-suite has had almost a complete turnover. Higher than normal turnover in other areas as well. Poor raises, unfair merit system. Promotions are sometimes based on favoritism rather than skill or talent.

    Advice to Management

    Transparency. Fairness to all. Communication.
