Conning supports continuing education and professional development and rewards individuals who work hard.

All the M&A activity makes employees nervous about future job stability.

I worked at Conning (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Collegial atmosphere. Management is actively pursuing M&A and international growth as core business of managing small & mid-cap insurers assets have limited growth potential as most prospects have already outsourced their investment function already.

    Cons

Some employees are set in their ways, but there has been some management changes, so I expect a more dynamic environment going forward.

I worked at Conning full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are some exceptionally intelligent, and wonderful people employed there

    Cons

Management doesn't value honest input from all employees and choose to turn a blind eye to obvious management problems

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and deal with the obvious problems within in. Do what you know needs to be done.

I worked at Conning full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great pay and bonus potential.

    Cons

Mediocre benefits. Big company philosophy but small company BS. Men are in business formal everyday (go buy ties). Just a shade worse than insurance company office culture - static and monolithic while the "old guard" still has the reins.

    Advice to Management

    None.

    I worked at Conning full-time

    Pros

Interesting work. Professional environment. Name recognition in the industry as a leader. Nice people.

    Cons

They don't pay as well as others in the industry. Not a lot of opportunity for advancement. Employees are not really empowered to make decisions on their own.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay/bonuses and offer more opportunities to grow. Give managers more latitude to make decisions.
