Pros

-Company trip, team activities and free lunch. - Office colleagues were great.

Cons

1. Ineffective Management, from the Content Team Leads to the VP of Content and Marketing. Rude, nasty, unprofessional, and they lead with fear. 2. Abuse of power by management, often targeting lower-level employees. This is a key reason for the high staff turnover as people want to get out asap. 3. Appraisal scores based on how much of a friend you are to those scoring you. If your Team Lead or Manager doesn't like you, you're screwed. 4. Countless teams replaced by AI, as well as entire offices made redundant. This is possibly to save the company money, but disguised as a necessity for efficiency. 5. Placing people on PIP (performance improvement plans) without just cause. You are ushered into a meeting room and handed a PiP that you just have to accept and sign, sometimes under duress. This document is used as a way to get rid of you in time, or to ensure they don't have to pay you an annual bonus, if you survive the PIP. You are not allowed to present any evidence that proves claims made against you are false, which was the case in my situation. You cannot fight for yourself. 6. So-called annual bonuses are not guaranteed. You must score above a certain threshold to receive one, and final scores are always lowered by upper management before released to staff. 7. High levels of narcissism. The owner, and the CEO refer to employees who are "supposedly" not performing as c-players. Usually, this is a false depiction of the employees who are labelled this way. How you are evaluated as an A, B or C player is highly flawed and rarely an accurate reflection of your true performance. If you're considering working at Deriv, know that your mental health will suffer. Trust the reviews by FORMER employees.

Pros

- lots of AI budget which allows employee to stay on top of the technology - decent dev experience (tech-related tooling etc.) - decent office in cyberjaya

Cons

- complacent. many great ideas blocked by poor top/middle management. JY would have approved those ideas. some of them do not really demonstrate the technical ability as their past experience claims. - compensation is not transparent - unusual hiring process
