I have been working at ENSCO full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Smart people and flexible work hours, including work at home. Interesting working on the space program.

    Cons

Small company has no 'bench' if it should loose a contract. It support is remote. No real business development effort.

    Advice to Management

Work on business development. Try for other contracts at ksc and the air force. Improve it support by hiring a local engineer.

I worked at ENSCO full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The Springfield office culture was excellent. Nice people who are good at their jobs. Employees generally care about their work and are technically successful. Family friendly workplace.

    Pay and benefits are decent.

    Cons

Recent high level management changes have been a bad experience. NSS has had 2 new division VPs in the past few years, each a downgrade on the previous leader. Current leadership lacks understanding of the business and has run off many of the best project managers and top technical performers.

Each group is expected to do it's own business development with minimal support at a division level. All of NSS shares one business developer, leading to many missed opportunities. BD resources are focused on not losing existing work in stagnant areas instead of growing the business.

Office culture is changing for the worse. Much of the new work is offsite so the main campus is a ghost town. Senior people are leaving rapidly.

Senior corporate management is well meaning but indecisive.

    Advice to Management

Refocus on the company's strengths (strong technical performance, culture) and get some competent middle and senior managers. Provide business development resources to grow the business instead of treading water focusing on work without any growth potential.

    Pros

Company puts employees first and treats them right. Top management listens to employees and does their best to ensure they are treated well and with respect.

    Cons

Nothing negative here. One of the better companies I have ever worked for.

I worked at ENSCO full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good experience straight out of college and aircraft bragging rights.

    Cons

You are a disposable Engineer. Underpaid, overworked, no future for 99% of engineers.

    Advice to Management

Push for better opportunities at the locations where you contract out your employees.

I have been working at ENSCO full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Okay work life balance, average benefits, work can be interesting with right contact but those opportunities can be hard to come by.

    Cons

Management is not transparent, most policies are 20 years old and little information is given on how to advance, when new management spots were opened there was no competition they were handed out to favorites. Low pay due to aggressive bidding on contacts, people have been asked to donate hours in the past because contacts were underbid to win.

    Advice to Management

    Be more transparent,
