Major Changes to WFH - Software Developer Auto-Owners Insurance Employee Review

Pros

People are nice, up until these big changes I had been quite happy.

Cons

They have decided the remove the majority of WFH from IT and Actuarial, starting in January it will match up with other departments at 2 days required in office per week as a hybrid. This decision has been told to us as unrelated to productivity or our ability to WFH, so it has felt more like a punishment or not well thought out decision. I can see how some teams might struggle to build relationships and grow at mainly WFH, but my team put a lot of effort into connecting while WFH, and there was still a good chunk of us who would come in more than required to create good experiences. Having that option taken away and having now announced there will be no pay adjustments, the bulk of us are now effectively taking a pay cut due to increased cost of living.

Pros

Easy job to do if you’re halfway smart and actually try.

Cons

Low salary compared to other companies. Raise your concerns with this or anything else and management basically blackballs you for any opportunity for growth. You can do twice as much work as some of your co-workers and still get the same measly 3% annual raise. You’re better off coasting through the job rather than giving 100% effort. The harder you work, the more responsibilities they give you without any monetary compensation.
