Pros

If you are going to work retail Best Buy is a great place to be. Most positions allow you to make yourself useful and cross-train in other departments. This allows you to learn more about the store and keep you interested in coming to work. Another plus is if the department you are in does not suit you no need to quit or kill yourself since employees in good standing can transfer to a department they would be better in. Plenty of opportunities for bonuses and recognition and if all else fails be sure to stay on for the discount.

Cons

Personal problems are hardly taken into consideration for most individuals. It is hard to become full time unless you are hired in as full time. Performance is often the basis of hours but not necessarily, so being in the wrong department at the wrong time can put you in a rough spot. Employees that should be weeded out are often kept at minimums and moved around instead of getting the boot!

Cons

If you start out on registers up front it can be difficult to learn on the floor and find a department especially if you are not selling enough credit cards and memberships

Pros

-It's a job that is available in most locations.

Cons

-The company, on a corporate level, doesn't seem to grasp the value of the talent they have. - Close ties with Citibank subvert the importance of product knowledge, customer service, and revenue for credit card sales. - Daily Performance check-ins are overbearing and myopic. - Tends to burnout motivated employees with false carrots and hollow promises. - Pay's terrible, and rides the line of predatory at times.
